Analysis of Plan B - She Said

1) Plan B - She Said
2) Album - The Deformation of Strickland Band
Released - March 28, 2010
3) Summary - Som
eone is in court about a girl. He is saying that he is innocent and th
e girl is wrong.
4) The main set of
the video is in a courtroom. The man singing represents the dialogue that h
e is telling the courtroom. There are flashback type shots to illustrate what he is saying. The video is a narrative with him lip syncing to
the other characters rather than the audience.
5) 0:00 - Starts with him kissing a girl in an elevator and then following her. It cuts to him standing up in a box in court. Musi comes in
but no lyrics yet.

0:30 - Starts singing. In an interview with the police. The jury looks
serious but move with beat, eg clicking and tapping files.

1:00 - Him in court and with police. Flashbacks to what he is talking about.

1:30 - Same as 1 min. Cuts to court room with some dancing but serious faces.

2:00 - Music changes to rapping. Faster cuts.

2:30 - Continues 2 min. Music slows again, goes back to singing.

3:00 - Singing in court with police dancing either side.

3:30 - Song ends and video stops.

6) The video is a narrative of a man in court defending himself. Cutaways to flashbacks follow the story that he is giving.
7) There is a clear connection between the lyrics and the video. As he was singing to desribe events, the video often illustrated what he was saying.
8) I think this song is targetted at a younger audience, teenagers, through the rapping section. However, the bulk of the song may appeal to an older audience.
9) In the video you meet Ben Drew; the singer. It focusses on him and the story of his character in the music video.
10) The video mainly takes place inside; either in the court room or the police interview room. The flashbacks were in various places such as an elevator or at a club.
11) The video doesn't really put me in a certain mood. I don't think it is aiming to inspire people or anything. It's just a good song with a story to make money.
12) My attention was drawn to the video because of the older style music mixed in with the modern.
13) The video makes the singer seem misunderstood; that he is in trouble but it wasn't really his fault. This would make the audience take his side and make a connection with him.
14) I think the combination of music, lyrics and images work well in this video.
